The most celebrated hole at Bandon Trails and one of the great par 3s in American golf. The 10th plays from a dramatic elevated tee across a sweeping heathland valley to a green perched on the far side. The combination of length, exposure, and visual drama makes this one of the most memorable tee shots at the entire resort.

Shot-by-Shot Strategy

T

Tee Shot

At 227 yards from the Blue tees, this is one of the longest par 3s at the resort. In any meaningful wind, the shot demands a fairway wood or long hybrid. The green is wide but shallow — landing the ball on the green is only half the challenge; landing it in the correct portion for the pin is the other half. Aim at the center of the green and accept where the ball finishes. Anything short falls into a steep heathland slope below the green.

P

Putting

This putting surface sits at the top of the heathland ridge and is one of the firmest and fastest on the course. From above the hole, putts can accelerate dramatically — always leave the ball below the hole. The view from this green back toward the forest section is extraordinary — soak it in between shots.

Gotchas — What Kills Your Score

  • The heathland valley below creates unpredictable wind — the tee feels calmer than what actually reaches the green 227 yards away. Trust the flag on the green over what you feel at the tee.
  • Anything short of the green rolls down the steep slope and leaves a very difficult up-and-down.
  • The bunker complex right catches the natural miss from players trying to protect against rolling through the back.

Wind Intelligence

The most exposed tee shot on the heathland section and one of the windiest at Bandon Trails. The prevailing southwest wind is at its most direct here, crossing the open valley between tee and green. In a strong headwind, this hole can demand a driver for some players — unthinkable on most par 3s but entirely real here. Check the flag aggressively before club selection.
