About the Course

Designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, Bandon Trails moves through three distinct ecosystems: dense Pacific forest, open heathland, and seaside dunes. Unlike the other courses, Trails features no ocean views — but what it lacks in coastal drama it more than makes up for in variety, strategy, and pure shotmaking challenges. It has the highest rating of any Bandon course.

What to Know Before You Play

Course-specific intel for your round

  • 1

Bandon Trails has the highest course rating (74.9) of the Bandon courses — it plays harder than it looks. Do not let the forest holes lull you into complacency.

  • 2

The forest holes (1–8) are tight and demand accuracy. Driver is often wrong here — know when to lay back to a yardage you're comfortable with.

  • 3

The heathland middle section (9–13) opens up and the wind becomes a major factor. Adjust club selection aggressively — wind here is unpredictable.

  • 4

Coore & Crenshaw greens are massive with multiple pin positions. Always confirm the pin sheet location before approach — the wrong side can cost two extra putts.

  • 5

This course favors the low ball flight. Punching and controlling trajectory are rewarded all day. Work on your 3-quarter shots before the round.

Course Personality

The thinking person's Bandon course. Three ecosystems, supreme variety, and the resort's highest rating make this a sleeper masterpiece that rewards the strategic player.
